This is OE Spec Crankcase Ventilation Hose for EA111 engines as fitted to VW, Seat, Audi and Skoda cars.
The vent breather can become blocked due to residue caused by a range of reasons but usually due to missed oil changes or poor quality oil, these can also become cracked or split especially if handled incorrectly when removed to get access to other components.
Symptoms of blocked or broken ventilation hose can range from whistling sounds to oil film around filler cap and engine.
